A Mid-ocean ridge (also known as Mid-oceanic ridge), is a ridge that forms in the middle of some oceans, and is where two main tectonic plates meet together, however they can break apart over time. They can also be an area where volcano's can form, since lava flows out of the ridge. The most commonly referred to ridge, is the one that is located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
